fic exchanges and life (esp. the various ways it sucks)

Interesting post with lots of input on how to mod anonymous exchanges here. Which I forced myself to read through twice to try and work up a guilt complex for slacking on the fic of rock-bottom, seventh-hell doom... *Why* do I always feel the need to go to sleep *immediately* as soon as my mind strays into 'actually, you should write now' territory?

Granted, I should sleep more and am not feeling up to much today either after locking myself into the back office and crying for half an hour today over [livejournal.com profile] karaontai having to put to sleep a cat which I'd known since it was a teensy kitten 16 or so years ago :(. Damn, Sheila, I'll miss you - you were such a cuddly, uncomplicated furry bundle and I loved you dearly!

Somehow, things suck this month apart from *me* doing fine... There are those months, but it's time this one's over.

Writing-wise at least I have nine hours on a train in front of me next-next weekend, so I'll take laptop and do (hopefully) last minute writing and editing without disruption.
*crosses fingers*

Holy crap - 9 hours on a train? That's some journey.

*hugs*

I end up in bits whenever I hear of a cat being pts, even a cat I've never known personally. (I'm much better with fictional cruelty to people.)

But come and meet a new cat that wouldn't be alive today if she hadn't wandered our way. Every time I weep for an unknown cat, I hug her.

So sorry about your cat woe. They are the best friends.

And with unashamed selfishness I vote that you should sleep less and write more :-) What is the fic in question and why so doomy?

I'm very sorry--it's difficult to lose a cat friend.

Some time ago, we had some typically inconclusive exchanges about magic in fiction, real life, and Catholicism. This: http://superversive.livejournal.com/67317.html, is the best discussion I have read yet on the matter, and its author is the most intelligent and penetrating intellect I ever met on the Web. Word of warning: he is a Catholic convert. But I honestly think that the person who does not find this essay interesting must be dead in their mind. In spite of its enormous size, the only problem I have with it is that it is not long enough.
