LJ... The Saga (Episode Waytoomany)
Ok, just when I thought I could get away with tired eye-rolling rather than *yet another* LJ-sucks post, we get "Oh, and btw we've just killed your basic accounts", and not a week after, "Oh, and btw, we've killed some selected interests from the 'most popular' listing too." Among which being 'sex, fanfiction, porn, boys, girls, fairies...' Entire list if you follow the link.
Though correct me if I'm operating with a faulty cookie, they seem to be back again?
Anyway, the basic account closure (which is practically the final straw burned of what once was the 'no ads on LJ' promise, unless the next move is forcing them on paid account users too) is bad enough, so...
ONE DAY CONTENT STRIKE For one day, Friday, March 21, make no posts. Make no comments. Let there be NO new content added to LJ. SUP obviously does not realize that Basic users have given something of value to them, that it is content that drives the site. So, for one 24-hour period, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT, let's see how many people we can get to pledge to contribute NO CONTENT. This will create a permanent downward spike in the daily-posts statistics, a permanent reminder of the power of the userbase. Full information at The Fox's Den. SPREAD THE WORD!
Dunno how much good (or bad) it has the potential of doing, but I'll observe it - and as it means not going to the net cafe, it'll even save me money ;).
