and I feel quite guilty for having no impulse to translate fics into German at all...
Neither have I. Not even my own... although I do keep meaning to translate the gen fic at some point. It's just that HP doesn't work in German for me. Might be different if I'd read the original books in German, but I never did. I don't read German HP fanfic either. Never felt the urge. And with the more juicy fics, I guess I'd just be too embarrassed to read or write them in the language that I speak every day - there's a bit of a safe distance that you can put between a fic and yourself if it's not in your every day language.
