But the competition is just about writing fic and having it criticized by the judges. I think it's possible to get something useful from it (and, OK, I wouldn't mind getting some attention for my fics). If you get selected, you don't necessarily become a BNF. It all depends on what you do with it, I suppose. I wouldn't have time for it anyway (I couldn't handle my f-list anymore if it became too big). Maybe I'm naive, but that's how I see it.
