Ron is occasionally guiltily jealous of Harry's wealth, but what pissed him off during GoF was not Harry's fame as Triwizard Champion - it was that he thought Harry had entered without telling him, as if he didn't matter enough to be told.
That is exactly what I thought. It was just that he felt that being his best friend, that shouldn't he be the first to be told about him entering the contest, not finding out about later along with everyone.
