One that belongs squarely in the category ‘brilliant’, and two that I enjoyed immensely…

FIC REC 1

The Five Steps by [livejournal.com profile] ari_o (gen, PG)
Summary: A portrait of Harry's grief during the summer after OotP.

A frightening glimpse into Harry’s state of mind in the summer after Sirius’s death. That one hurt – too bleak and desolate even to make me cry. Superb characterisation and even more impressive psychology. It has an impact like a Dementor – sucks the happiness right out of you. Yes, that's a compliment.

FIC REC 2

Corruption by [livejournal.com profile] beren_writes (Harry/Draco, NC-17)
Summary: Voldemort has captured Harry and for his own twisted reasons has chosen not to kill him outright. Revenge in the Dark Lord's mind requires a fate worse than death and Harry is about to find out what that is.

That one had just everything – plot, beautiful characterisation of Harry and Draco, a unique twist, *very* exciting (and plot-driven!) smut, and a beautiful take on what it is that makes Harry uniquely Harry. Great fun.

FIC REC 3

PoA in 15 mins by [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda (no rating… PG with some flights into R territory)

I’m sure that one’s old news for most, but I had incredible fun reading it, and to see all the digs on the movie, the plot, the fandom… Hysterically funny :).

And I still find myself with absolutely no opinion on the newly released title of HP Book 6… (I don’t have to quote and hide-tag it right – everybody knows anyway, and I’m a lazy bint). It reminds me strangely of Karl May, and I just hope it refers to an existing character (can see speculative fanfics popping up in droves, *grin*), and not to a new arrival… The spoof version was almost more fun, though :).
