... from the flist, not because they're from the flist, but because said flist writes amazing fic!
Silk by
fee_absinthe (Lucius/Draco, NC-17)
Summary:
Lucius brings a new obsession back from Azkaban. Draco tries to find a way to ask for what he wants.Incest needs to be very well done to work for me, and this is among the two or three most memorable stories on the theme I've read. A brilliant, damaged Lucius, a determined, vulnerable Draco, thoroughly convincing psychology, and just about the most beautiful, evocative writing imaginable. We *know* Kit is an amazing writer, but this is incredible even by her standards.
A Surfeit of Wands by
lazy_neutrino (gen, PG-13)
Summary:
When Harry turns sixteen, he is removed to Hogwarts amid fears for his safety. But not even Hogwarts is safe any more, and when Hestia Jones discovers a real wand for sale in a Muggle shop, Harry finds himself dealing with a new and deadly enemy, and a betrayal that happened before he was born. The holidays before Harry's sixth year, a new danger, and a plot of truly Rowling-esque quality. LN writes Harry and Remus as if she's managed to creep into their very brains, and the writing is superb. Chaptered/finished, and therefore guaranteed to be updated regularly. Which is a good thing, with a tale as addictive as this.
With a Long Spoon, again by
lazy_neutrino (Lucius/Remus, NC-17)
Summary:
Set in the weeks after Halloween 1981. Just under 700 words. Lucius/Remus, consent issues. That's a pairing I never seriously considered before LN mentioned it, and this ficlet shows an incredibly intense and complex encounter between the two. Characterisation is at its best for both - she writes a mean Lucius, and of course her Remus has come to define the character in my mind completely.
What Would Hermione Do?,
Part 1 and
Part 2 by
seventines (Ron/Draco, NC-17)
Summary:
During a Hogsmeade weekend, Ron thinks he sees Ginny with a boy and heads off to investigate. He ends up in a bit of a mess.A well-written Ron including all of his numerous faults is something that makes me happy. And he gets a little of his own back here, which makes me *equally* happy. A rare, well-plotted and surprising fic.
Death of a Naturalist, again by
seventines (Ron/Draco, preslash, PG?)
Summary:
Draco Malfoy examines his life while returning to school for his sixth-year. An amazing ficlet that has Draco pondering his ‘relationship’ with one Ron Weasley. Wonderful observations, and just absolutely beautiful writing.
Untitled by
gmth (Lucius, gen, PG?)
Summary:
Have you ever regretted a wish you made? Why? What happened? Lucius, making up his lack of support to Voldemort, and paying the price. Usually, it’s GMTH’s Lucius who blows me away, but here she writes the most amazing, intelligent and sinister Voldemort as well. Short and cutting.
To See The Human Soul Take Wing by
maeglinyedi (Sirius/Remus/Harry, NC-17)
Summary:
Harry's final year at Hogwarts is filled with secrets, old enemies and new threats. Unable to share his current life with his friends, Harry has to put his faith in the unlikeliest of allies to find a way to defeat Voldemort while his love for Sirius and Remus is repeatedly put to the test. Harry, trying to come to terms with being a werewolf, and in a relationship with his godfather and his godfather’s best friend… Duh, yes, everybody and their Crups and their pet rats have read and praised that already, but I’m not the fastest Thestral in the herd ;). A wonderful mixture of romance, plain hot sex, complex political plots, adventure and fascinating OCs (and that’s something I usually run a mile from).
