Fic and Essay Recs
Mar. 27th, 2005 11:11 pmTwo Fic Recs that reminded me why I like the FA Exchanges:
Bow to the Inevitable by
adela711 [gen, G]
Summary: Lucius is anything but excited by the prospect of being the father of a two-year-old Draco. Draco's behaviour makes things only worse. Will Lucius ever start to feel something more than annoyance whenever his son is concerned?
Stories about baby/toddler Draco are rare, so this is a delightful surprise for the topic alone. But Adelina also creates a convincing background for the ambiguous relationship of Lucius and Draco in canon, from the PoV of a wonderfully sardonic Lucius. A real treat for any Malfoy lover.
Testing the Waters by
captainjames [slash, HP/SS, R]
Summary: Snape decides to test seventh years, making them identify potions. Harry’s test, though, goes different from everyone else’s.
"Something was definitely wrong. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but something was not right, he could feel it."
Giving this pairing a truly innovative twist isn't easy, but this subtle, vivid story manages, while illustrating the true meaning of the term 'mindfuck'. Brilliant, sensual stuff!
And pointing you to an amazing

chthonya on the potential and pitfalls of Hermione/Lucius: Opposites Attack: The Storm-Tossed Ship of Evil Genius
If you're interested in the theoretical aspects of a bushy-haired Muggleborn bookworm Mata Hari luring our favourite Malfoy, this one's for you!
