Mini-Whine

I love long, complex, multi-chaptered fics. What I hate with a vengeance is *downloading* long, multi-chaptered fucs. Having no net access at home, I tend to download just about everything to read at leisure, and being faced with the prospect of downloading 25-odd chapters, no matter how good, is so much *work*.

Which makes me think... on an archive, would you rather read a fic of four, six, ten chapters posted in one piece, or read it in the chaptered version?

FIC RECS:

The Symmetry of Absence by frogslayr (HP/DM/SS; R)
Summary: Snape puts up with Draco, who fancies Harry. And there's a cat.
A beautiful, sensual tear-jerker with amazing characterisation all round. One of the rare fics involving Harry/Draco that keeps Draco perfectly in character while making him a distinct, vivid, vulnerable *person*. Just beautiful (and no, I’m not reccing it just because of the cat).

For 16 Galleons by Ruhgozler (gen/preslash/slash, PG-13 to R)
Summary: For Draco's 7th birthday, he wants his very own boy. We all know Lucius spoils him rotten.
My pick from painless_j's recent Slavefic List. A chilling-yet-entertaining AU where Voldemort has won the first time round, and enslaved all Muggleborns. I have no idea how something can read so innocently entertaining at times and yet make me so bone-deep *uncomfortable* . The AU aspect is done in amazing detail and convincing throughout, and the implications are just… scary :).

No, this is not about the fic 'genre' itself, but about which *term* to use in the warnings in a fic's header.

So, I'm curious. If you encounter a fic warning with 'non-con', what do you expect the story to contain? What not? Completely unrelated of course to whether such a warning would make you read or run from the fic ;-).
