The 'Getting to Know You' Meme

(filched from [livejournal.com profile] atrata)

So, f-list, answer me these things. Or point me to the place you've already answered them. My own statement before the Spanish Inquisition is here.

1. Age, location, vocation?
2. Describe a bad habit of yours.
3. What's one place you really want to visit before you die?
4. If you should pick only one, what's your favorite HP fic?
5. Share a dorky story about yourself.
6. What was your favorite toy at age 3?
7. At age 7?
8. What's your favorite lj community?
9. Link me to an entry on your journal you'd like me to read/comment on.
10. What are your spiritual beliefs?
11. What is your favorite HP artwork?
12. Say something nice about another LJ user (not me).
13. What do you eat for breakfast?
14. What's something weird you enjoy that gets you odd looks from other people?

Fic-in-the-Works Meme

Well, I could either do a shameless self-plug meme filched from [livejournal.com profile] teawithvoldy, or bitch about the heat, the boring day filing student records at work, or how phoning up British theatres to reserve tickets for people who are too scaredy to do so themselves because they *claim* their English isn't up to it frays my nerves... (yes, [livejournal.com profile] hummelchen, I'm looking at you!). I guess you'd prefer the Meme ;).

FIC-IN-THE-WORKS MEME
(none of them spoilerish)

If you happen to be working on some creative writing project (in my world, fanfic), post exactly one sentence/paragraph from each of your current work(s) in progress (I'll treat you to the three I've got with me on my 'in work'-floppy instead of three dozen, ok?) in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion. Mention the title (and genre) if you like, but don't mention anything else -- this is merely to whet the general appetite for your forthcoming work(s). (Not that I have anything remotely approaching the teaser-posting gift of [livejournal.com profile] lazy_neutrino).

1) "Are you able to see the Thestrals, Mr Zabini?"
Blaise shook his head numbly before catching his presence of mind. "No, sir," he croaked.
Malfoy's condescending low laugh trickled down his neck like a tiny viper.
"A little innocent, then?" His thumb stroked Blaise's neck. "It is a pity, Mr Zabini. They have their very own austere beauty."

Working title Blaise-Lucius (duh!), NC-17

2) "Your master *used* me, Potter, he all but forced my compliance. You won't be denying me the right to do the same to you."
Without giving Harry a chance to protest, Malfoy tore at his robe, sending hapless buttons flying and wrenching it off Harry's shoulders.

Catching Up, NC-17

3) Malfoy's sole reaction was a lifted eyebrow.
"Believe me, Mr Weasley, if I had intended to harm you, you'd already be dead or in whatever state I desired you in."
"Is that so?" Ron retored. "If I remember correctly, we held our own well enough the last time we duelled you and your cronies."
"If *I* remember correctly, Mr Weasley, *you* did not particularly distinguish yourself in that particular battle – 'Look, Harry, *brains*?"

Working title Ron-Lucius (duh! again), NC-17

And yes, I *will* return to non-NC-17 ratings once that batch is out!

essay search

Ah, f-list... have any of you talented, intelligent people ever written/read/come across a good essay on intertextuality and/or meta in the HP fandom? And can point met its way?

Feeling like Spoiler ) begging for Spoiler ) here :).
