Ron and Lucius, locked up in Azkaban, playing chess, playing at survival, minds clashing... Wow! I'm in love with R/L as a ship, but them clashing in genfic may be even closer to my heart - especially if it's so superbly written, characterised and plotted through as in this fic. Read! Oh please!

Summary: Horace is feeling a bit of the old ennui, until he discovers a Gryffindor first-year with...potential.
Another one ofmad_maudlin's recent gems. Slughorn encounters young Percy in his class, and finds out about his ambitions in life. This made me wish it could have happened this way, because those two personalities could complement each other so well.

Summary: The Sorting Hat has sorted thousands of students in the course of its life. If it makes a mistake or two, who's to say it's wrong? Certainly not Fred or George Weasley.
One of the best Sorting Hat AU fics I've ever seen - it's just hysterical to see Harry's year all scrambled and trying to adjust... full of brilliant character details, and I really wish I could see canon playing out with *that* setup ;).
Yes, it's cheap to pick up other people's Niffles to rec, but this is so priceless I couldn't resist.

The most gobsmacking, filthiest and comfort-zone-invading smut I've read in ages - but it also stuck in my mind like glue for weeks now. *Not* a love story! Tread carefully and mind the warnings if you're easily discomforted or want your H/D perfectly in character. But if not - this is pretty mind-blowing ;).
