FIC RECS (gen and smut)
Oct. 25th, 2006 09:27 pm Five Have a Magical Time by
lazy_neutrino [PG, crossover, one-shot]
Summary:The Famous Five spot some sinister hooded shapes in masks storing suspicious-looking bundles and crates in a cave near their home. Can they foil the nefarious wiles of the Death Eaters in time?
I read the 'Five'-books as a child, and though crossovers aren't exactly my thing, this is the perfect mix of Enid Blyton style, characterisation and atmosphere mixed with post-HBP plot. Funny, scary and just all-round great.
Self-evident note: yup, I betaed it; no, I'm reccing it because it's plain amazing.
Malfoy Honor by
ravenna_c_tan [Lucius/Draco, Harry/Draco, Draco/others, NC-17, 7 chapters, complete]
Summary:Lucius is not pleased about his son's affair with Harry Potter. Not at all.
A brilliant, vulnerable Draco torn between his father and his lover, with some of the most erotic writing I've seen in a while, and a marvellous scheming Lucius. Beware if Malfoycest bothers you, but enjoy otherwise.
A Penny Earned by
the_con_cept [Ron/Lucius, NC-17, longer one-shot]
Summary:All relationships are based on growth, and even a penny is worth something
This one is a real gem – my OTP, *and* a romance/relationship fic that manages to keep both Ron and Lucius perfectly in character. Watch worldviews collide! I'd be in love with this even without the pr0n, but I'm sure not complaining that it's hot too :).
The Deathly Importance of Being Serious: A Parodic Play in Four Three Acts by
gunderpants [Sirius, Remus, Tonks, PG-13, WiP, one part]
Summary:Act I: in which Remus learns of the devastating +10 Chipolata attack, and where Sirius hatches a plan that is neither cunning nor well thought out.
Harry Potter goes Oscar Wilde :). Mad plot meets madder plot as Sirius tries to rope in female company and Tonks is, well, not breathlessly smitten... Hysterically funny, especially if you're familiar with the source (I mean Tonks as half of Lady Bracknell?). The man would have loved this, I'm sure.
Roses, also by
lazy_neutrino [Petunia, Lily, PG, one-shot]
Summary: The past is another country. Petunia Dursley remembers her childhood.
A wonderful, short and symbolic gem of a story illustrating Petunias change from carefree, imaginative girl to the restrained, materialist woman we see in canon... thoughtful, melancholic and very beautiful.
The Stone by
corvidae9 [various, AU, (P)G, one-shot, part of series]
Summary:A handful of firsties learn early lessons in Interhouse Unity thanks to a mess involving an impossibly old alchemist and a big, slobbery dog with too many heads.
Sequel to Corvidae's wonderful Sorting AU Switch. The future adventures of wee Hufflepuffs Harry and Draco stumbling through 'The Philosopher's Stone' with a very unusual assortment of sidekicks. I'm totally in love with this 'world', and... wheee! There are now two Interludes and a new installment I have to run home and read, so... cheers to all! *dashes off*
PS. Since Marnanel's Joule seems to be nonfuntional, is there another way of keeping an eye on LJ friendings for the terminally scatterbrained?
