Books!

As you can see from the header, today is a good day!

And yesterday was an excellent day too - [livejournal.com profile] karaontai, your parcel arrived! It's been messed with and opened by the customs office, which is probably why it took so long. The rattling of noodles must have been disconcerting. But at least they did not open the present :).

Thanks so, so very much for the book, and the pretty birdy paper! 'Kohlmeisen', or so it looked, and I can't be arsed to look that up in English right now :).

Predictably, I'm already two thirds through the novel (Mary Renault's The Persian Boy on Alexander the Great's lover Bagoas), which is almost unputdownable! Thank you, Kara! You're the very best! Love you! *hugs*

And then today I also got the newest collection of Steven Saylor's Roman Republic crime short stories, which I'd picked as way late b-day gift to myself :).

*And* I found out that Project Gutenberg has an electronic online version of Alec Waugh's The Loom of Youth which I drooled over ever since getting a glimpse into the sexualised underworld of boy school novels for the current class, so I did a pretty guilt-instilling (but two-in-one sided!) printout of that for weekend amusement. Now the only thing I'm really badly wanting is the Memoirs of John Addington Symonds, earlier but on the same topic...

With apologies for boring you silly (well, the masochistic ones among you who actually read all of this, *g*), I'll go back to beta-reading like a mad thing :).
