If this had come out of nowhere, I'd not blame LJ all that much - they're slaves to pressure like most companies, and caving in to advertisers/pressure groups is much easier than considering their users. What pisses me off to no end, however, is that we see happen *exactly* what the so-called "hoax" warned about, and what the LJ people ridiculed as impossible. I'd forgive them for succumbing to outside pressure. I do *not* forgive them for lying. Not again. Fazit: Paranoia pays off!
I'm also quite certain that after this, I don't *need* a paid account, and an unpaid one will do me perfectly fine in the future - unless it runs afoul of the censors and complainers, that is. Or until we see those communities and LJs reinstated with apologies.
