This is fantastic, Hijja. Once more I am awed at your skill to bring words together and form such beautiful, heartbreaking moments for us to rejoice in. James was brilliant in his hopelessness and desire and desperation and god, those last lines!
Though my favourite part was how, even in Death, the Marauder in James takes the time to relish the fact that once more he has got one over Snivellus. That shadow of a smile, it must have killed Snape to see it, just as much as it must have killed him to be confronted with the fact that even the Dark Lord and Lucius, who had promised him power and acceptance, completely forgot about him when James was in the room, like Dumbledore, like everyone else. Usually, I'm not too kin on James bulling Snape, but here, in those last seconds, with everything he once hold dear threatening to fall appart, I can't begrudge James his pity thoughts.
