Neither have I. Not even my own... although I do keep meaning to translate the gen fic at some point. It's just that HP doesn't work in German for me. Might be different if I'd read the original books in German, but I never did. I don't read German HP fanfic either. Never felt the urge. And with the more juicy fics, I guess I'd just be too embarrassed to read or write them in the language that I speak every day - there's a bit of a safe distance that you can put between a fic and yourself if it's not in your every day language.

I've looked at a few German fanfics recently, and a handful work supremely well, but all the translated canon scares me off. It just feels wrong.

Like all the translated names of places and people? Quite true. I get the impression that the German HP translations are good quality, on the whole. Much better than many other children's books.

But yeah, if you're not used to HP in German, it's hard to find anything appealing about it. Have you got any German HP fics to rec?

I mean,

Ok, two fics, but just one author: the first two fics here. Especially the H/D. Which isn't your tea, I know, but for the style/sheer force of the writing. I really don't much like cyberpunk, but this has to get full marks for originality as well as style.
