Those of you who remember my recent confused posting about rating issues might be interested in the further tale of Slytherin Lovers. Which, to cut a long whine short, was rejected from one archive for not being NC-17 enough. Well, it was subsequently resubmitted to a lower-rated archive, where it was rejected for being too NC-17 :). Which didn't surprise me much, and I admit I was very entertained by sitting on the Fic That Broke The Rating System. Hey, I'm the one who's generally opposed to clear boundaries ;).
Well, as several wise people had advised me in the first place, I appealed with a (hopefully not to whiny) 'Look, it's got to belong *somewhere*, right, and I don't think among things child-safe', and wheeee! it got accepted. As R ;). Which makes me suspect it was more to shut me up than from conviction, but yeah, well, I feel better to have it *there* than *there*.
On the one hand the whole thing amuses me greatly, but on the other I think I broke my brain trying to figure out the dividing lines between NC-17 and R for good this time :). But at least it shows it's not just me!

Date: 2006-07-11 08:07 pm (UTC)I did look at the ratings guide, and thought 'it's probably not going to flow' which it didn't :). Still, even that guide depends a lot on context and interpretation...

Date: 2006-07-11 10:35 pm (UTC)I love that story. I'd start an archive just to host it, if I could. ;)
