Quick Fandom Switch

I had a nice, hot weekend (and we're talking hot in the temperature department) baking cookies for my dad's birthday tomorrow and watching [livejournal.com profile] hummelchen's collected edition of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Two - first time in the English version. It's much more fun, really, after the initial one or two episodes to get used to the differnet voices.

The second half of Season Two is still my top favourite of the whole series. And even after all this time it still baffles me how 'good' Angel can be such a downright annoying character, played by such a mediocre actor (yep, I do notice the inverted correspondence between acting ability and clothes worn), and yet 'evil' *Angelus*, played by the very same actor, is somehow the scariest thing imaginable... *brrr*.

We'll switch back to HP proper next post ;).

And where did those bloody six moskito bites on my arms come from? Bloody bastards! Well, either that, or Hexe's picked up fleas... But I doubt it - I'm the only one scratching.

Oh I think 'evil' Angelus is really hot! Not at like that Emo-snivelling boring Angel! *g* Mmhmmmmm! Angelus has some balls! ROWR!

And for this I use the only vampire-icon I have, which is of Dracula. *g*

*snicker*
I even find him more scary than hot, but yeah, he doesn't shed clothes quite that much ;).

Nice icon, btw - that's another actor I find totally 'eww!' in photography (though that one's fun) and excellent on screen... weird.

I notice the exact same thing! I remember when my sister and I were watching Buffy and everyone in the world was talking about how great Angel was. We remained totally unimpressed and annoyed until he became evil. Then suddenly, he seemed to become a great actor and much, much better looking! And scary. Very scary.

I still love Angelus. :)

Yup - strange that. Perhaps he shouldn't play tortured emo heroes, full stop?

He has improved in acting since then. By the time he was in "Angel", he was consistantly good. Maybe it was being around Buffy ... she did that to Riley too ...

I love Angel. And the actor :) I just felt the need to point this out ;)

Aaaalright... If we all liked the same things, life would be dead boring and we'd all die of an overdose of HP slash. Though you really don't feel the repeated urge to club Angel over the head with something hard and heavy? Or yell 'act, don't undress'?[/heresy]

No, I really don't :) Angel had me hook, line and sinker from the moment he first appeared. I gazed into his soulful eyes of... some colour or another, and then he gave Buffy a cross, and, *sighs wistfully*, the Claddagh ring...

The urge to club over the head would first appear in season four with Riley.

Angelus is scary because he knows his victims so well - he knows exactly how to hurt and to terrify. I think the episode I like is called 'Passion' - the one with Giles, Jenny and all the red roses...

Yup - I whimpered while I re-watched that ep, and I've seen it before several times... It's just... twisted on a level even beloved!Lucius can't reach. Amazingly cruel for daytime TV, too - I like it ;).

Buffy Season Two reminds me of the good old days as a teen. LOVED that show. LOVED Spike. LOVED that season. Gah! :D :D :D

*grin*
I saw it first already post-teen (having to do with the few years it takes for a show to make it to the continent), and found it dead boring until Spike turned up :). Not in the sense of lusting after him, just... *there* is a villain who's totally likable and hysterical while still being dangerous. His 'relationship' with Buffy's mom, for example ;).

I loved him in "Angel", and now I can't stand him on "Bones". His character gets preachy and downright annoying at times. And he's the whole reason I started watching the show to begin with. *cries*

Spike -- oh, god, yes, the scene where Spike is behind Joyce, mimicking biting her just to piss off Angel? That has to be in our Top 10 TV Moments of All Time.
