Think I can get away with even more memeage, and, *gasp*, obvious self-pimping?
Mixing the Five Favourite Fics Meme (filched from all over the place) with the GoodThingsBadThings version of
cluegirl's:
Post a list of your top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then, tell us the Good and Bad about them.
So You Want to Go to Hogwarts? (PG-13, gen)
GOOD: The plot jumped me while cycling to and from the supermarket, and it almost wrote itself – I did not see the ghost part coming at all until it turned up. I still love the way it turned out. My most... intelligent fic, I guess.
BAD: People keep taking the narrator for a canon figure rather than the anonymous 'Every-Muggleborn' I was going for. And can't think of how to make it clearer without breaking out the explanatory sledge hammer.
Night over Azkaban (NC-17, HP/LM)
GOOD: First smutfic of which I'm still ridiculously proud. Harry and Lucius both felt right, character-wise. The entrance of the heroes at the end I still love madly.
BAD: The sex magic plot is so contrived it hurts, and the writing was an uphill struggle against my inner prude. Hardest of all fics to write.
Et Ne Nos Inducas in Tentationem (PG-13, HP/DM)
GOOD: Together with Dead Before Dawn it sums up everything I ever wanted to say about H/D. Came up with the final line on the bus from work, and it made me shudder like hell and tear up. Can still do that.
BAD: Cliched as hell. Suicidal!victim!Harry, argh! Lousy title. It's not good, but emotionally closest to my heart of all my stories.
Burdens (R; LV/HP/LM/BL in various combinations)
GOOD: The closest I ever wrote to a real love story. The ending does exactly what I hoped although it's cheesy as hell. I love the Grindelwald and Italy scenes, and the battle.
BAD: Soulmates in the afterlife is so painfully cheesy. Voldemort is OOC as hell – I *told* him this during the entire writing, but he refused to listen and ran off with it.
Cat!Harry (PG, gen)
GOOD: It allowed me to air my love for all things feline, and I wrote it with a silly grin on my face in 20 minutes interrupted only by dashings to the window sill to study teh cat posing.
BAD: A short, plot-less vignette, but considering the time invested, it came out just right. Though I still wonder how many people have passed it up on reading the title...

It's kind of perverse to go for the love and kill at the same time, isn't it? *g*

Date: 2007-03-10 05:20 am (UTC)Night over Azkaban is still my favourite Harry/Lucius fic ever. I don't tend to like this ship, but you make it very believable here.
