Subjective take on the Personal Canon Meme :).

1. Deep down, Harry suspects that Snape has killed Dumbledore on Dumbledore's orders, but he won't allow the thought to drift to the surface, because he *deserves* to hate someone for it.
2. Harry has always suffered the Dursleys' abuse without protest because – even deeper down – he suspects they're right, and there's something wrong with him, not them. He still wonders whether he'll wake up one morning and the wizarding world will have been a dream. Ever since fourth year, he sometimes wishes he would.
3. Although Harry hates both Lucius and Draco, he also envies Draco for having a father and protector, jailed Death Eater or not.

1. In her heart of hearts, Buffy doesn't believe that Dawn was *really* a human-made manifestation of the Key – she *knows* she's always been her sister.
2. Buffy has always been deeply (and guiltily) uneasy about the relationship between Willow and Tara. Not because of *them* (she liked Tara), but because it made her insecure about her own sexuality – if it could happen to Willow, could it happen to her? It's one of the convoluted bundle of reasons that made her seek out Spike.
3. Buffy has forgiven Giles for 'testing' her at the Watcher's Council request, but it has damaged her complete, blind trust in him for good. She's very sad about it, but they both know it.

1. Snape loves Dumbledore (in a platonic way, that is) beyond any doubt, but he's not sure whether he does not hate him even more than Voldemort at the same time.
2. The 'worst memory' about the Marauders Harry has seen in OotP is by no means the true worst memory he has about James and Sirius - the truth is much more ugly and traumatic, and beyond ever being forgotten.
3. Snape really likes to teach potions (and DADA), and takes immense pride in his advanced NEWT class. Not that he would ever admit to it!

1. Draco made his way on the Slytherin teams by trying out - Lucius bought the Slytherin team the new brooms as a 'getting in' gift.
2. Draco loves his father with all his heart, but deep down he isn't certain whether Lucius would not sacrifice him if necessary. He hates himself very much for thinking this.
3. Draco badly wanted to become Harry Potter's friend on the train, because wow, the Boy Who Defeated the Dark Lord, how cool is that!?! His subsequent hatred for Harry is mostly born of his rage over being rejected (and in favour of a Weasley!).

1. It has taken Sarek decades as husband and father to stop being secretly ashamed of his human wife and half-blood son.
2. Sarek has never quite forgiven Kirk for stealing his son's affections from him and Vulcan so very completely. He knows it's illogical – not to matter unfair – but he can't help it.
3. In his later years, Sarek has come to question - in a purely theoretical way - the Vulkan philosophy of emotional control and logic.

1. Lucius regrets ever having joined Voldemort as a youthful sin, and would happily wash his hands off him - not because he's a halfblood (Lucius has known that all along), but because Lucius has come to prefer another way of wielding influence in wizarding society.
2. Lucius is well aware of Draco's shortcomings in courage, willpower and personality, but he loves him more than any other human being nonetheless. He won't show it, though, to prevent Draco from becoming even weaker.
3. Lucius ruled Slytherin house with an iron fist during his schoolyears - indeed, his little gang of housemates called themselves 'Slytherin's Fist' and later on entered the Dark Lord's service as a group, mostly out of dissatisfied rebelliousness and desire for power/immortality.

1. Ron waits for Hermione to make the first move in the direction of a possible relationship because he's afraid of rejection - his gut feeling tells him she likes him 'that way', but his brain keeps telling him 'why should she?'
2. Ron is occasionally guiltily jealous of Harry's wealth, but what pissed him off during GoF was not Harry's fame as Triwizard Champion - it was that he thought Harry had entered without telling him, as if he didn't matter enough to be told.
3. Ron isn't quite sure his parents really care much about him - about him personally, rather than general concern about one more wee Weasley - especially his mother.

Ohh, I love these! (And they're for the most part quite close to my own view of these characters :)

Mine, too. That's actually quite creepy. I was nodding along as I read each one. I actually had to stop and think and then nod again before continuing to the next fact.

This is eerie: your Harry, Snape, Lucius and Draco entries are so close to my views on these characters that I'm suspecting some sort of freaky seperated-at-birth-intercontinental-Vulcan-mind-meld-thingy. :D

I don't know Buffy or Sarek, but I can accept the rest quite happily as *my* personal canon, esp your take on the Draco-Lucius relationship.

Ooh, "Slytherin's Fist" :D

Thanks for doing these, much fun!

You are exactly right about Buffy, of course.

Ron: right one and two, grossly wrong three. It's his brothers that Ron has problems with - they all tower over him - not his parents. And as the baby of the family, he will have developed early the habit of going to Mummy for help; that is certainly what must have happened, for instance, on the memorable occasion of his teddy-bear being transformed into a giant spider; why would Molly have punished them, unless Ron had ran to her with his story? Baby brothers always do that - believe me, I have good reason to know.

About the Harry item, I would like to point out that one of the standard effects of abuse, as of rape, is to make the victim feel or suspect that s/he has somehow deserved or attracted it.

About Snape: if, after what you said on point two, you do not hurry up and WRITE YOUR OWN STORY ABOUT IT ALREADY, I will hate you for the rest of your life. Well... for fifteen minutes anyway. I am not a very good hater.

Ooh, I'm so happy with your #1 on both Ron and Snape. It's very interesting to see them that way. Conflicting feelings FTW! :-)

I love alll of these, especially the Ron ones. I have a strong affection for Ron, despite his prattish behaviour at times.

And Sarek - yes, yes, spot on!

Although Harry hates both Lucius and Draco, he also envies Draco for having a father and protector, jailed Death Eater or not.

I would love to see a story involving Harry and Draco where this comes out somehow and what Draco's reaction to this would be.

Wow, these are great - and so much how I see those characters it's almost uncanny! Especially Lucius, Harry, and Draco, but also the others, and Buffy's #1 had me nodding vigorously!

Like most others here I find myself mostly in agreement with these. (well, the Harry Potter ones, anyhow. I don't know enough about the others.) I particularly like your Harry ones, though. I'm not sure I've read any Harryfic of yours (or anyone's, to be honest) since HBP, so these nuances are new to me, but make so much sense. I don't suppose you've any gen-ish fic around point 3? I'd love to see that delved into.

Exactly

Ron is occasionally guiltily jealous of Harry's wealth, but what pissed him off during GoF was not Harry's fame as Triwizard Champion - it was that he thought Harry had entered without telling him, as if he didn't matter enough to be told.

That is exactly what I thought. It was just that he felt that being his best friend, that shouldn't he be the first to be told about him entering the contest, not finding out about later along with everyone.

You hit the nail on the head. Well, at least in my mind. And Harry, man those were good.

I loved them all. Err, except Sarek. I have no idea who that is? Maybe I'm an idiot...lol. Wait, that's not really funny...okay maybe just a little. ;p
