FIC RECS

Heh, stumbled across a number of really good ones recently...

Darkly Home (Upon a Midnight Clear) by [livejournal.com profile] nimori [NC-17, slash, SB/RB/SS]
Summary: It's the last Christmas, and Sirius gets a reminder of life with little brothers -- and their annoying friends.
I'm not too fond of Sirius, usually, and so far Regulus made me go 'he existed - so what?'; but Sirius' voice here is incredibly vivid, and it's literally the first fic where Regulus Black came to life for me as an individual - and a bloody intriguing one, too. The brothers' bickering-during-sex and their childhood trauma are superb, not to mention that it's extremely hot on the whole :). And it keeps the balance between angst and light-heartedness/humour - which is so rare with those three angst-fest stars ;).

The Last Horcrux by [livejournal.com profile] alchemia [R, slash, Harry/Snape]
Summary: Voldemort has fallen, but Harry is still having nightmares. Dumbledore has found an ancient potion and ritual that can cure him.
Not my find, but recced by [livejournal.com profile] painless_j in a batch of (brilliant) HP/SS one-shots. She even *warned* for traumatising content, and it still left me crying. The price for the final destruction of Lord Voldemort - and why would the victim need to know?

Two Tribes by [livejournal.com profile] underlucius [hard G, LM/KS, gen/preslash]
Summary: When two tribes go to war
Yup, there's such a thing as condensed tension (of all kinds), and this ficlet proves it. Lucius and Kingsley clash in a duel during their school days, in some of the most amazing language/imagery I've seen in months; before this, the pairing never even occurred to me, and now I'm dying to read more of it!

Darken Into Nightmares by [livejournal.com profile] darkasphodel [NC-17, slash, Snape/Harry, Harry/Remus]
Summary: It’s been three days, and Remus knows they are going to die. Remus/Harry/Snape, non-con, chan, character death.
This is one of those rare examples where fic makes me cringe, whimper and wanting to *hide* somewhere - a heart-breakingly painful tale of defeat. *Not* for the faint at heart, so *please* mind the warnings!

First,

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO [livejournal.com profile] lycoris!!!

And now, for the poll, as always without any of the pretty ticky boxes, because I'm cheap, and poor ;).

How Do You Prefer Fic Recs?

a) I'm not interested/don't read fic recs

b) I don't care what fic recs look like, as long as there's a link

c) I have my own preferences as to what fic recs should look like, and want to see (pick everything that applies):
TITLE/LINK; AUTHOR; RATING; PAIRING; GENRE; SUMMARY; COMMENT ON CONTENT; COMMENT ON QUALITY; SUBJECTIVE COMMENT ON WHAT INSPIRED THE RECCER TO REC; ANYTHING ELSE I'M GOING TO ADD :)

d) I have my own preferences as to what fic recs should look like, and do *not* want to see (pick everything that applies):
TITLE/LINK; AUTHOR; RATING; PAIRING; GENRE; SUMMARY; COMMENT ON CONTENT; COMMENT ON QUALITY; SUBJECTIVE COMMENT ON WHAT INSPIRED THE RECCER TO REC; ANYTHING ELSE I'M GOING TO ADD :)

Thankee! :)

And totally unrelated, I *so* wish the spammers would stop trying to sell me land in Costa Rica three times a day! I much rather fancy some prime bit of ocean-front property in Atlantis, thank you very much!
