February Recs, batch the second
Feb. 15th, 2008 08:34 pm... new hits and old favourites, het-slash-gen :)
Feb 9: The Door by
klynie1 [Teddy/Harry, Harry/Sirius, NC-17]
Summary: Teddy Lupin needs to know the secrets that lay hidden behind The Door.
I think the only reason I've fallen hard for the 'second generation post-epilogue' pairings is because the fic written about them is so awesome. This is another wonderful example - Teddy's voice and character, the sheer vivid hotness of the smut, and the overall plot are... well, just wow! :)
Feb 10: The Astronaut's Phase by
pushdragon [Harry/Draco, NC-17]
Summary: With Ginny off adventuring, Malfoy turns up in London with a plan that involves illegal goods and indecent acts in public places. Harry investigates thoroughly.
Still don't quite get why it took me two months to getting around to reading this wonderful fic. It has all the best ingredients of H/D - good plot, lots of tension, humour, and amazingly steamy sex. Plus, the very best (and, I think, quite purposefully provocative) way of dealing with Ginny to further H/D romance. So great (and I have the softest spot ever for
pushdragon's Draco - yum!)
Feb 11: Caught by
millieweasley [Molly/Lucius, NC-17]
Summary: Arthur and Molly only wanted some adventure by the lake – they weren't expected to be caught by the caretaker – and Molly definitely didn't expect Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle coming to taunt her.
Heh, this is evil and noncon-ish and hot and just plain fun - I like this Molly Prewett in a way I could never drag up for Molly Weasley with all the deeply ingrained capital ADULT and mother of many attitude. This however... omg! Don't run from the pairing just because, ok?
Feb 12: Sing along if you know the tune by
pushdragon [um... justreaditwillyou!?!, PG-13-ish]
Summary: My 1000 word response to Deathly Hallows. That old Malfoy/Potter rivalry just goes on and on.
Ah, I really don't want to give away anthing about this wonderful ficlet, least of all pairing and plot... But the author's great, the interaction *very* spicy, and the plot really, really delightful. So just trust me on this one, no questions asked, ok?
Feb 13: Lightning Has Just Struck My Brain by
mousapelli [Harry, Neville, gen, um... PG with an edge?]
This is a ficlet I never got around to Niffling on FA, but which was on my list for a long time; Neville and Harry clash with Dumbledore and the prophecy, with unexpected results. Exploring one of my favourite red herrings of HP fic ever :). Gen, no warnings, except for the twist :).
Feb 14: Moments of Reprieve by Kay Taylor [Charlie/Lucius, NC-17]
Summary: Charlie and Lucius get together.
One of my favourites for ages, both for the delicious rarepair and the intense, gripping encounter between Charlie, Lucius and a dragon... Excellent writing too - crisp and vivid, and yes, quite hot on top of everything :).
Feb 15: Remembrance by Ancalyme [slight Harry/Voldemort, R]
Summary: Voldemort remembers. Set in the distant, indefinite future.
Another ever-so-slightly guilty favourite because the writing isn't entirely flawless, but this fic stuck in my head ever since my earlier days in fandom for the future-dystopia element, the outstanding images, the... dunno... wisdom of it, and because the last line has downright *haunted* me. My memory is lousy, but I've never forgotten *that*.
