Fic and Essay Recs

Two Fic Recs that reminded me why I like the FA Exchanges:
Bow to the Inevitable by [livejournal.com profile] adela711 [gen, G]
Summary: Lucius is anything but excited by the prospect of being the father of a two-year-old Draco. Draco's behaviour makes things only worse. Will Lucius ever start to feel something more than annoyance whenever his son is concerned?
Stories about baby/toddler Draco are rare, so this is a delightful surprise for the topic alone. But Adelina also creates a convincing background for the ambiguous relationship of Lucius and Draco in canon, from the PoV of a wonderfully sardonic Lucius. A real treat for any Malfoy lover.

Testing the Waters by [livejournal.com profile] captainjames [slash, HP/SS, R]
Summary: Snape decides to test seventh years, making them identify potions. Harry’s test, though, goes different from everyone else’s.
"Something was definitely wrong. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but something was not right, he could feel it."

Giving this pairing a truly innovative twist isn't easy, but this subtle, vivid story manages, while illustrating the true meaning of the term 'mindfuck'. Brilliant, sensual stuff!

And pointing you to an amazing [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto essay by [livejournal.com profile] chthonya on the potential and pitfalls of Hermione/Lucius: Opposites Attack: The Storm-Tossed Ship of Evil Genius
If you're interested in the theoretical aspects of a bushy-haired Muggleborn bookworm Mata Hari luring our favourite Malfoy, this one's for you!

=D =D =D
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. And also, thanks for your very detailed review :). To be honest, I had though about having Snape tell the students that they should have their essays ready for the next class after the holidays, but I was too eager to get to the more, ahem, interesting parts, so I forgot. Meh.
I didn't know English wasn't your first language. A closer look at your profile tells me it's probably German (unless you are not German, but you're living there). English is not my first language either.

German, yes. Would you mind me asking what your first language is? I'd have taken you for a native speaker for sure, after reading that story...
And considering how interesting the 'interesting parts' got, I can understand how that detail slipped by - not that it's a big thing anyway!

My fist language is Spanish, but I had great betas for TTW :). There weren't *too* many mistakes in it, but I misused some words (the ladder/ladle mistake was particularly disconcerting for Cordelia =D).

Ooh, a new Snarry, I can't wait. And I've read one or two HG/LM and have not really liked them that much, so that essay sounds interesting, too. Maybe tomorrow if it's slow at work. *is going to hell and knows it*

Well, if you want to take another peek, there are a lot of good fics linked in the essay. I'd recommend [livejournal.com profile] chthonya's Open Book and Invictus most of all - she not only managed to addict me to the pairing, but even to inspire me to write it (scaring my inner slasher to death). ;)

*blushes furiously*

Thanks, honey - glad you liked it enough to rec it. Your review made my day, but then again, all of your reviews do. :))
