Exercise in Nailbiting

Ah, I'm starting to get excited now - only a few more hours 'til I'll get my sweaty paws on the new book! Not excited enough to look at the First Chapter that's floating around - I prefer the feel of the book in my hand. You can look to [livejournal.com profile] narcissam's LJ, for example, if that rocks your socks - but, yeah... I'm getting excited ;).

[livejournal.com profile] hummelchen has promised to take me out for breakfast tomorrow, and to make sure I'll pick out a present for my dad's birthday on Monday *before* vanishing to devour HBP. I won't be *quite* able to give in to my baser instincts right away, then :).

So I'll wish all of you a marvellous Saturday reading :). Don't forget to feed the cats in between!

ETA: I just found myself walking through the streets with a supremely broad grin on my face, and smiling like a loon at random passers by. This *is* fun! A bit like being in love :).

Sorry - the two idioms that came to my mind were exactly the two the first two posters also brought up...

I'm not going to go anywhere before, well, late morning, but won't take risks either. Of course the bookshop people said they had enough copies that even pre-ordering wasn't necessary, and it worked just fine with OotP, but better safe than sorry :).

Oh, in case you did not know, Narcissam's version of the chapter is f-locked, and it seems that she has the bad luck of not having me on her f-list.

*g*

Ok, I don't dare to look at it because I don't want to know, but a while back [livejournal.com profile] atrata pointed me to [livejournal.com profile] spoil_me_hbp, which might have a link... Needless to say, that community will contain/consist of SPOILERS.
Am I paranoid or what?

Yeah, but what got me going was NM going on about how spectacular and spiffing it was. At that point I do not think it is fair to exclude people.

It's a personal LJ, not a public service announcement. With all the secrecy hype, I'd sure lock it too, just to be safe(r).

Look, sweetheart. To be forbidden the use of cats would be bad enough. How would you feel if everyone else in the city were to parade their furries in front of you and loudly discuss how great it is to have a cat and what comforting pets they make?

Oh, stop whining at me - they're not out to get you again. I quoted it where I saw it, and was *not* going to look for another source out of sheer personal egotism to remain unspoiled. It's not the only place where it's posted. Nobody's *forced* to share it publicly. If you want to read it, go look - it won't be hard, but *I* won't do it for you.

And don't *think* about trying for yet another random strawman debate - I'm in a good mood, and intend to keep it. Also, I'm going home now.

Sheesh! People!

[identity profile] fpb.livejournal.com 2005-07-15 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
ACtually, that was meant to be light-hearted. There is a certain difference between mocking your thing for cats and getting plain pissed off at your incredible reaction to my city being bombed. Do I have to scatter smileys all over the place before you can tell the difference between jokes and indignation? And you were the one who lectured me about being short on sense of humour...

Ok, sorry - I did not see humour, probably because, well, I tend not to expect it from you - so yes, the smilies would help :).
Am *still* going home now - bus, five minutes, drat!

Enjoy the book!

She will probably not read this till tomorrow, but it does not matter. Mention of the bus in five minutes just brought suddenly and irresistibly to mind the time my brother spent in Heidelberg's University Hospital. I remember being very impressed, among other things, by the local bus service - very modern and punctual machines among neat fields and buildings. Funny how memories will be stimulated by any kind of thing, and so at random too.
