In place of a proper greeting post, a tiny introduction meme for necomers and oldbies on this silly LJ alike:

1) Tell me three things about your fandom activities/preferences
2) Tell me two things about *you*
3) Tell me one random thing :).

And if I start to bore you, don't hesitate to unfriend me - honestly! ;)

And, again in place of a proper introduction, a meme full of boring childhood memories, gacked from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] riibu:

1. What was the first car your family had?
The first I can remember was a turquoise Citroen.

2. What was the name of your first pet and why?
A budgie called Hansel. It was the family budgie, and named after generations of my grandma's budgies – they all had the same name. Boring, no?

3. What did you want to be when you grew up?
An astronaut :). A nun when I was very young (and no, I never was Catholic...)

4. What was the name of your elementary school?
Königsknollschule... named after the general neighbourhood and a close-by street.

5. Who was your first best friend?
Monique... she was American of Dutch origin, and her father worked for the American garrison.

6. Are you still friends today, and if not, what happened?
No – they moved, and I never saw/heard of her again. I was about 8 or 9 back then.

7. What was your favorite board game?
Malefiz... don't ask me what that may be in English, though from the design it might have US roots... I loved chess too – only the males in my family knew how to play (my dad and uncle) and it felt like an initiation to play :).

8. Did you play house or other make believe games?
Always make-believe games, but very rarely house...

9. Were you a Dungeons and Dragons geek?
No. I didn't really know what it was as a kid (a few boys at school played it and were very secretive/cliqueish about it). I'd have loved to, though.

10. Did you sleep with stuffed animals as a kid?
Amsik, my stuffed lion. But he usually slept at the footend of the bed...

11. Do you still sleep with stuffed animals?
Nope – I never was much into that, and only have said stuffed lion left.

12. Who was the first person you looked up to when you were younger?
Crazy Horse :).

13. Who was your favorite relative?
My grandmother on the mother's side.

14. Were you short or tall in elementary school?
Average – not particularly short.

15. Were you teased in school?
Occasionally. I was never popular, but never gave a damn because I had my mind on other things. I wasn't a violent child, but I did hit people who tried to bully me seriously once or twice, which helped :). My good friends I met outside school.

16. What was the name of your favorite teacher?
Mr Rücker – I don't remember teachers from primary school, beyond vague impressions. He taught religion, but most of all respect for others' beliefs, and he was a politically active person, which impressed me to no end.

17. What was the name of your least favorite teacher?
I don't remember, but he taught German and was bloody incompetent and tried to hide it by picking on pupils.

18. What was your best subject in school?
German.

19. What was your worst subject in school?
I sucked equally at maths and physics.

20. Did you do well in Physical Education?
No. I loved ball games, though.

21. Were you clumsy when you were younger?
Pretty much ;).

22. Who was your favorite band as a kid?
ABBA

23. What was your favorite movie as a kid?
Star Wars

24. Did your parents read to you?
I honestly don't remember, but I think they must have – I started to live part-time in the town library after I was six or so and could read for myself.

25. Did you have a favorite book?
Many :). A book about a squirrel family when I was little; a novel about the fate of a beaver colony; a novel about the crusades and medieval Morocco... I still have those, and re-read them ;).

26. What was your favorite restaurant as a kid?
I didn't have one – occasionally, my parents took me out with them, but my later tastes were different...

27. What TV or movie star did you have a crush on?
I was in love with Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker – I never gave a damn about stars, only characters.

28. Do you now wonder what you were thinking?
No – I have a lousy memory for RL details, but my imaginary worlds are still somewhat vivid.

29. Who was your first crush in school?
A very mild one, on a neighbouring boy – Christof.

30. As a child, what kind of car did you want when you grew up?
I'm as painfully disinterested in cars now as I was then – I'll never want to have a Mercedes, I hate them (they're built where I live).

31. Did your parents spank you?
They slapped me a few times – I have forgiven (but not forgotten) the one or two more serious incidents.

32. Did your parents fight a lot when you were a kid?
Not really.

33. Did your parents get divorced or stay married?
Stayed married.

34. If they got divorced, how old were you when it happened?
-

35. Did you ever run away from home?
Once from home (only for a day) and once I went home from a Kindergarten excursion into the local woods (I knew them by heart since my parents took me for walks there a lot, but everybody was frantic).

36. How old were you when/if you first got glasses?
8.

37. Did you need braces or a retainer?
I had both, but as a teenager (13 to 16 or so)

39. Both sexes when did you start shaving?
At 25, for skirts in summer.

40. Girls when did you start wearing a bra?
13 or 14 – don't remember in detail.

41. What was your first kiss like?
Interesting... I knocked him down a small hill in outrage ;).

42. What did you do on your first date?
We went for ice-cream.

43. How old were you when you first drank?
6. It involved hiking in the Dolomites, a closed refreshment hut, and my parents up a hill in mid-July with nothing but two cans of beer. I had one, and am said to have slept like a log through the night. I still hate beer today :).

44. Where was your first house?
Sindelfingen. The family home. I still live there right now.

I really really like Blackcest.
I feel like I am being attacked with comment notifications from my latest post. Which is making me fail to get anything done at work. But is also awesome, because I'm really getting a lot out of reading people's responses.
I like het and slash equally. So equally that I write fics that twist matters and I can't figure out if they're het or slash.

2) Tell me two things about *you*

I live in New York City.
I have a little dog.

3) Tell me one random thing :).

My green tea got cold. But I drank it anyway.

- I saw SS before I ever read the books, but read the rest before COS came out.
- I write fic irregularly, and am finding myself more interested in writing rarer pairs, despite the fact that it gets me less attention.
- HP/DM is my OTP, but if I weren't into them, I might be hard pressed to choose. It would probably be between SS/SB and SS/DM.

2) Tell me two things about *you*
- I got my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Washington 18 years after I first started working towards it.
- I like playing with Tarot cards and Runes, and would love to be able to read them just by looking at them.

I like playing with tarot cards too (on runes I have enough to read up on if necessary, but never got into it). I read tarot good enough to get the crucial impressions, but still have to read up on details and nuances :(.

- My love affair with the fandom began when I discovered HP/DM, but now I read HP/any-male-Slytherin-you-care-to-throw-in!
- I never expected to become so addicted, so fast! Kinks and darkfic's have wrapped me in their chains and dragged me away from everything I knew about myself before! ;)

2) Tell me two things about *you*.
- I just finished a Master's Degree in Classical Archaeology. History has always been a powerful inspiration to my imagination. I was a macabre child, medieval torture devices and castle dungeons featured prominently in my favourite bedtime stories.

Lucius, Lucius, Lucius....it's really all about Lucius. And the pimp!cane, of course. (And this was before Mr. Hotness himself played him in the movie).

I've been with the HP series since the first book came out. I read an article about it in an English paper and was intrigued enough to order the book.

I'm really picky about writing. I care more about something being well written than who the story is about.

1) Tell me three things about your fandom activities/preferences
a) It's all [livejournal.com profile] a_t_rain's fault.
b) I really like "Snape's gang of Slytherins" fic. I wish JKR hadn't confused the timelines so mucb by putting Bellatrix as the eldest Black sister. I know it's still just about do-able, but...
c) I wish there were more fics about female friendship out there.

2) Tell me two things about *you*
a) When I was about 2, according to my parents, I went about informing friends and perfect strangers alike that "some monkeys don't have tails, just bare patches on their bums." The general idea came from a Ladybird book, I think, but the phrasing sure as hell didn't!
b) I would absolutely love to be able to ice-skate. Sadly, my sense of balance is appalling.

3) Tell me one random thing :).
Today is the feast day of St Simon & St Jude.

I think two years is a good time to obsess about monkey bums - the concept of baboons puzzled me quite a bit as a kid too :).

I wish there were more fics about female friendship out there.
Wholly agree - it's quite rare. You don't happen to have one or two good ones to share? :)

1) Tell me three things about your fandom activities/preferences

I have too many fandoms to go into and when I do, I lurk on the peripheries, as oftentime, central fandom scares the bejeezus out of me. I write. Lots. I also art on occasion and tend to stick with all-canon pairings where I can, though in several fandoms, I am hooked on odd ones :)

2) Tell me two things about *you*

My ambition is to either be a writer or graphic designer. Or both.
I have a green teddybear I have had since I was 6 weeks old and have only gone a handful of nights without him since then.

3) Tell me one random thing :).

My hands are covered in block printing paint :P

But I swear of all your crossovers, it's the Lucius/Tavington that has forever imprinted itself in my brain (and I hated that film with a vengeance).

Even as a kidlet, I've always been wary/scared of teddybears - no idea why :).

41. What was your first kiss like?
Interesting... I knocked him down a small hill in outrage ;).

*giggles* Thanks for the mental image. :D

1) Tell me three things about your fandom activities/preferences
When I first got into HP, I shipped exclusively Harry/Draco and Snape/Hermione, and thought Harry/Snape was the ickiest thing ever. Over time, my preferences extended to include it, and my H/D shipping friends (especially [livejournal.com profile] adela711 still boggle over that. I like slash, het, and femslash equally-it really depends what I'm in the mood for reading. I feel kind of guilty when I make a post without recs, since given that I'm no writer/fanartist/any kind of producers, reccing is the only way I actually contribute.

2) Tell me two things about *you*
I speak Bulgarian, English and French (and my native Greek), and I'm currently learning English. I've been looking for a decent job and doing unpaid internships for so long, I'm starting to fear it will never happen.

3) Tell me one random thing :).

Supersize Me is pretty awesome, and guaranteed to put you off McDonalds for life.

Hey? Where did my reply go? *kicks wonky internet connection*

I've never been quite so much into HG/SS (although the SO is, and I get a lot of stuff to read that way), and never really *saw* the appeal of Harry/Snape. What drew me into that pairing was the sheer amazing quality of a lot of the fic written on it. By now, of course, I'm entirely addicted :).

Oh, yes, reccing - I should do *so* much more of it! But it's hard work, to fit bouncy enthusiasm into convinving words :). And there's laziness... :(.

1) I have applied to be a Niffler. I regard my chances of being accepted as somewhat lower than Jacques Chirac's morality or the Mariana Trench, whichever is lower.
2) I am currently boiling over with ideas for my Schnoogle trilogy (KATHARINE MALFOY: VENGEANCE ITSELF, TAMSIN AND KIRSTEN, and THE QUEST FOR CLEO MALFOY). Unfortunately they are mostly for middle and closing chapters, so I am still rather stuck for the immediate work to be done.
3) I am waiting to see when you next do something that is not smut. Things like THE ART OF WOOL and CENSORSHIP are immortal masterpieces, and we need more of them.

4) I am organizing my flat so I can write, research and draw without having to shift and reorganize everything each time. I seem to be getting orderly in my old age.
5) I may restart a project I had going years ago, where I translated the Aeneid, the Iliad, and Goethe's Weimar dramas. Why? To improve my fluency in the respective languages, of course.

6) The only time I ever appeared on a TV quiz show was a disaster. I was run out on a history question - which is rather like forgetting your own name. And the make-up people could do nothing with my beard, so I looked like I had not shaved for five days solid.

By the way, this is me.
