Yay! LJ comment notifications are picking up - they're making it into my bulk folder now, which is a step from not showing at all. Now all that's needed is another push, and they might make it right into the inbox!
ETA: Let's make that 'some notifications'... damn!

Am going quietly mad with writing at the moment, and seriously *hate* my lack of wordcount! And am trying to fight the temptation of going to see GoF again tomorrow night. Tell me I need to write, ok?

[livejournal.com profile] lazy_neutrino, you so saved my night last night! Except for the moment at the end when you had me wailing loudly with my back to the wall and biting my knuckles. That *hurt*! Want my firstborn?

There's a Whom Have You FangirledAdmired from Afar Meme going on in [livejournal.com profile] kungfooqueen's LJ :).
I'm so guilty of that!

Totally unrelated, I've seen a number of posts on the f-list lately on RPG-ing and pimping new RPGs. I always find it intriguing, but to be honest, the idea of fandom RPG-ing scares the hell out of me. I've role-played in RL, but chatting around a table is one thing... I mean I can't even get my mind around the mechanics of collaborative writing. And to be honest, even looking at RPG communities confuses me since I have no idea how it works. Not to mention that - let's face facts - I don't have enough net access (and time) for it.

But it *does* intrigue me every time I see it. That's why I wonder - is there something like a 'training RPG' for clueless (and terrified) newbies? Or a post that really goes into the how-to details? Or someone who wants to clue me in?

You need to write!

(And God, so do I!)

So what am I doing? Checking my friendslist, of course...

(hee!)

Thank you! Now on to shove that up from visual nerve into brain ;).

The Procrastinators, that's us :).

You need to write! Tuesday or Wednesday, you said. You promised a new chapter.

Was it OK then? 'He flinched, staring up at the man on the horse.' still makes me twitch and I wrote it. (The pure malice behind healing someone in that situation...) Plus where he slides down the tree. I hope the twist at the end was a surprise?

*wails*
I know! (at least I said 'or Wednesday'). Spent all the time last night I did not read your fic on baking chocolate chip cookies...

Surprise...? Let's put it like this, I screamed, jumped off the chair, ran away from the computer and wibbled for five consecutive minutes... You're *cruel*, woman! It's beyond ok! Should be done tomorrow night. But... guh! *shudders*

If you send me the cookies, I won't hassle you for the next chapter...

...until Wednesday. :)

I'm glad I made you wibble. Definitely hurt-and-no-comfort, I thought. I was very pleased with it, actually, though - naturally - I've tinkered with some of the words since I sent it to you. You know how, as soon as you've sent it off, the word you've been chasing for three days taps you on the shoulder and says 'Here I am!'.

Wednesday... I have the mess *written*, just not typed, and just did one of those nasty turnaround-and-change-tense things again... Will try to make less of a mess with it than the last two pieces you read.

No comfort whatsoever! You mean you got the solution to that 'dog-noise' dilemma? ;)

From: [identity profile] lazy-neutrino.livejournal.com
Not quite: I'm still stuck on the fence between screeched and shrieked. But I found a repeated 'sidestepped' and changed one for 'dodged', and a few others. You may get a second version back when I've taken your comments into account.
I may have to set up a filter for this fic though - someone on my flist's dog has just died suddenly and I don't want her even to know the story exists.

Oh, and what mess? Those last two were brilliant!

The 'there's a tiny difference between past and present tense and I might have noticed if I hadn't edited so sloppily'-mess :).

From: [identity profile] lazy-neutrino.livejournal.com
Oh, don't worry about that! I'd forgotten, actually, which shows how much it bothered me! I just assumed you'd been in two minds about the best tense, and when you'd come back to edit/rewrite, you'd carried on in the tense your subconscious was in, instead of the tense the story was in. (Because I've done that, too!)

I was a complete n00b to [livejournal.com profile] boulevard_dream wwhen I first starting playing. I play Charlie, Cho and I've just taken Fleur over. We need more players. *nudges* It's not difficult.

I think it may depends on the other players as to how ell the game goes. I really hit it off with [livejournal.com profile] silvernatasha who plays Lavender and we regularly have posts with 100+ comments. It takes us a bit longer now to finsih posts as she has limited net access during term time.

It also depends on who you play and how much back history they have and also how canon complient the RPG is. [livejournal.com profile] boulevard_dream is canon complient until OotP but is set post war which allows a lot more freedom then one that is set during Hogwarts. Have a nosy arounf and ask if you have any more questions :)

It's exactly the same. You start off thinking "I'll be fine and it won't take much of my time" and then you realise that's like crack and you just can't get enough ;)

Thanks! I'll do that :). I'm still kind of congratulating myself that I have no time whatsoever to get into something like that, but then again, I once said that about LJ too...

Hey, yay to lj notifications. I still have some wandering off somewhere.

As for rp'ing. If you're curious, there's a community [livejournal.com profile] potter_tag for spur of the moment role play. It's not a rp with some over all plot or sense of timeline, just a place for people to drop in and role play a scene.

I also wrote a post on etiquette for the community, but a lot of it can be applied to rp'ing in general and not just in the community, if you're curious, it can be found here.

Wow, thanks so much - I'll have to download that and read in greater detail. And that group really looks like an uncomplicated 'training ground'. *hugs*

You mentioned pretty much every thought I've had about RPGs, including the reasons I haven't ever tried them. So, thanks for bringing it up! (Still don't think I'll do any; too much to do, but it's fun to get an idea of what they're about.)

don't you love how lj notifications come and go. I just got this, and it is a cool place. If you're ever interested, I'm definately up for a quick round or two... I don't know your preferred pairings or time zone, but let me know
