Yay! LJ comment notifications are picking up - they're making it into my bulk folder now, which is a step from not showing at all. Now all that's needed is another push, and they might make it right into the inbox!
ETA: Let's make that 'some notifications'... damn!
Am going quietly mad with writing at the moment, and seriously *hate* my lack of wordcount! And am trying to fight the temptation of going to see GoF again tomorrow night. Tell me I need to write, ok?
lazy_neutrino, you so saved my night last night! Except for the moment at the end when you had me wailing loudly with my back to the wall and biting my knuckles. That *hurt*! Want my firstborn?
There's a Whom Have YouFangirledAdmired from Afar Meme going on in
kungfooqueen's LJ :).
I'm so guilty of that!
Totally unrelated, I've seen a number of posts on the f-list lately on RPG-ing and pimping new RPGs. I always find it intriguing, but to be honest, the idea of fandom RPG-ing scares the hell out of me. I've role-played in RL, but chatting around a table is one thing... I mean I can't even get my mind around the mechanics of collaborative writing. And to be honest, even looking at RPG communities confuses me since I have no idea how it works. Not to mention that - let's face facts - I don't have enough net access (and time) for it.
But it *does* intrigue me every time I see it. That's why I wonder - is there something like a 'training RPG' for clueless (and terrified) newbies? Or a post that really goes into the how-to details? Or someone who wants to clue me in?

So what am I doing? Checking my friendslist, of course...

Date: 2005-11-29 06:14 pm (UTC)Was it OK then? 'He flinched, staring up at the man on the horse.' still makes me twitch and I wrote it. (The pure malice behind healing someone in that situation...) Plus where he slides down the tree. I hope the twist at the end was a surprise?

Date: 2005-11-29 06:27 pm (UTC)I know! (at least I said 'or Wednesday'). Spent all the time last night I did not read your fic on baking chocolate chip cookies...
Surprise...? Let's put it like this, I screamed, jumped off the chair, ran away from the computer and wibbled for five consecutive minutes... You're *cruel*, woman! It's beyond ok! Should be done tomorrow night. But... guh! *shudders*

Date: 2005-11-29 06:35 pm (UTC)...until Wednesday. :)
I'm glad I made you wibble. Definitely hurt-and-no-comfort, I thought. I was very pleased with it, actually, though - naturally - I've tinkered with some of the words since I sent it to you. You know how, as soon as you've sent it off, the word you've been chasing for three days taps you on the shoulder and says 'Here I am!'.

Date: 2005-11-29 07:21 pm (UTC)No comfort whatsoever! You mean you got the solution to that 'dog-noise' dilemma? ;)

Date: 2005-11-29 07:42 pm (UTC)I may have to set up a filter for this fic though - someone on my flist's dog has just died suddenly and I don't want her even to know the story exists.

Date: 2005-11-29 07:23 pm (UTC)I think it may depends on the other players as to how ell the game goes. I really hit it off with
It also depends on who you play and how much back history they have and also how canon complient the RPG is.

Date: 2005-11-29 07:58 pm (UTC)As for rp'ing. If you're curious, there's a community
I also wrote a post on etiquette for the community, but a lot of it can be applied to rp'ing in general and not just in the community, if you're curious, it can be found here.
